”Dear, When I Met You” is a meditation on how art can be both ephemeral and immortal at the same time. The film begins with a badly deteriorating 1928 musical short and reworks it into something new by celebrating the beauty of the original film’s aging.

A huge collection of the Russian and Ukrainian art was put on sale in Europe. Paintings were sold for hundreds of thousands of pounds and made their way into European and American museums. 　　It was said to include over 200 oil paintings of some of the most treasured Russian and Ukrainian constructivist artists, such El Lissitzky, Exter, Goncharova, Popova and others, putting it among the largest in the world. 　　But are the paintings fake or real, and is the story of their provenance true or made up? 　　And who is the mysterious Russian-Israeli dealer behind this collection? 　　The BBC followed art detectives, forensic experts, leading curators and historians, and a Swiss family who were told their priceless works were worthless.

California continues to destroy and rebuild itself. This collage film takes a surgical approach to carving through 60 years of California’s historical violence. It comprises footage of the L.A. riots, slaughterhouses, wildfires, mid-century Malibu, and 90s’ newsreels to unveil a cataclysmic future predicated on cycles of rebirth in the West.

On 23 October 1984, a BBC News report on the widespread famine in Ethiopia shocked British audiences. Journalist Michael Buerk’s coverage of what was unfolding across the country was seen by Bob Geldof, who felt that he needed to do more than watch the devastation on his TV. Along with Ultravox frontman Midge Ure, Geldof sought to galvanize the musicians he knew into action. The result was the 1984 Christmas single Do They Know It's Christmas, followed some six months later by Live Aid. This four-part film charts what took place, with the first part screening at DocFest focussing on that initial report and the response to it. A fascinating account of recent history, it is also an incisive portrait of a movement intended to incite rapid, life-saving change.

In a speculative gesture toward a future without beloved species, this film places playful domestic imagery of cats interacting with historical artifacts of extinct animals against the backdrop of environmental collapse. At once surreal and deeply felt, it creates an imagined archive for a world on the brink, filled with humor, grief, and absurd tenderness.
